Roma and last half of trip Naples- Sorrento, Pompeii, Etna, Capri, and Catania

Image
We stopped in Orvietto, a cute small town to walk around, take pictures, ate at a small cafe. After a drive into the city we arrived in Rome. I have to say I am not all that crazy about the city life there but definitely worth visiting and loved it all. . I enjoyed the Pantheon for Apollo and Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps (scene from Roman Holiday with Audrey, yes I had to capture it). We did the pasta making class early and was authentic, difficult and fun. North Italy makes lighter olive oil and the south makes heavier and don't pick olives like the north does. Balsamic is made from wine grapes and stuff with mozzarella and deep fry them and press them. I really was excited to see the Vatican which was a moment in myself and with God amazing and tears arrived, and the Colosseum, which both were amazing where they stand. Arc DI Titus (on way up)  Queen Victoria wings of victory in back flip up from the building in the square and it was also the inspiration for ...

Florence- Cinque Terre- Tuscany

The city is like a dream. A place to fall in love and be in love. I loved it. The shops, the bridges, museums, the food. We stopped at a john bologna 360 degree painting used one block of marble to make the piece. Visited the Italian prison called Albergeto. Had lunch at a italian cafe, lasagna and caesar salad and later gelato. I berated myself for a bit spending money on italian stores, a treat no less. It was amazing. Later I slept for several hours after touring Boboli gardens with sweeping city views. Our tour guide surprised us with a private club rooftop bar for buffet and dance 🏽 evening at Flo Firenze. The sunset after hiking 300 steps was unbelieveable! Worth every minute. The italian meat was delicious and helped while I tried a specialty italian drink froofy and just something I had to try. What an experience and glad we got to go.  I bought some Italian clothing. Expensive, but worth every penny. The material is quality, the draw a timeless gem and maybe...

Verona-Milan- Lake Como

Image
We listened to some of Elton John in Italian it was soothing and relaxing. I slept a lot on ride to Verona. The town was super humid, but we found Guilette statue, touched her right breast for good luck and saw the famous balcony and her house. Stopped for more gelato, went to a street market found some fun magnets and #whathappensinverona. We went to see Forfisfa house courtyard and to the ever beautiful Milano Duomo Cathedral. Then traversed to Fonantana piazza castello fountain. Its crazy. Every tour group has a vibe of some that are overboard and drama and drink way too much. I have found myself focusing too much on them and becoming angry or feeding off negativity of others who didnt like something on trip. After I talk to some i actually click with on tour, I feel better and even when I attempt to get to know the tour director. Lake Como was a dream. Sitting at Cafe Milani I just soaked in the moment and laughed and smiled at conversation and the beauty around me. ...

Travel day and Venice

Blogs from Italy trip ill begin to trickle in. Met up with a few tour members at JFK airport, which made time fly quicker. We arrived around 4pm and then had our welcome mixer around 6 and had all kinds of food and wine. We hung out and walked around out hotel and beachside. The next day we went to tour Venice in the city, a walktour and gondola ride and snack and prosecco after. Walked to St. Marks Cathedral and enjoyed the beauty. Weather is hot. Snuck into hotel bathroom, free! Pigeons are everywhere and the square actually in other times of year is flooding. Fact: Italy sinks 5 inches every ten yrs! Wine tasting and feast event was festive and delicious; accomodating and fun. We had five different wines, plus a tasty pasta and strawberry cake like crust dessert and light angel type cake. An older italian gentleman serenaded our tables, and the chef of our night stepped out to talk to us. Wine sold was a good deal as well. Worth the choice to go to the venue. The entire c...

GO JUST GO: Travel found! New sister company goahead tours

On the mere cusp of my travel, leaving in 72ish hours, I am excited to announce I found another tour company (no age limit!) to travel with called Go-Ahead Tours. I called the agent this morning and am excited to get started with them. My friends and family, some laugh at this supposed ‘travel bug’ mentality and they say I will have it out of my system in no time. Gosh, I hope I don’t. I hope it weathers with my body until my end of days. My Aunt Liz is 90 years old! 90 people! Ask me where she has been and that would take more than a day to tell you. My other Aunt Bev is reaching 80 and she has been all over. Their husbands have traveled either with them and sometimes before they met one another.  People tell you, you can’t, or I’m jealous, or why you? Or I bet you can’t because you live in So-cal now, or well you’re kind of old now aren’t you? I would like to blast those opinions and put them to shame. I am not old and even if I am OLD, forget you. Age is a number not a defi...

Sunny and 75! and goodbye to an era at AJ

Since Mia and I moved to San Diego, we are finding more fun places to explore either together or separately if they don't allow dogs lol. Karl Strauss Brewery was really good, and my colleagues helped give me a list of food places, things to see and do that I hadn't already done, since my aunt and uncle live down here. What is nice is the boyfriend's aunt and uncle are down here too. Very welcoming, down to earth people; felt right at home and they even invited Mia over! Black summit is a pretty hike Mia and I went to one weekend and enjoyed the wild flowers and planes flying overhead. I went to a beach bbq last week, with a friend from work and their bible study. Was super relaxing and nice singing songs and just chillin with calm vibes, good people, and a beautiful sunset to end the day. Work has been challenging and it is hard cause I have been sort of selfish lately with my gym time, leaving Mia more hours at home. I am trying to get better about hanging with my four ...
