Total Relaxation: Pre-birthday, Weekend of Total Bliss Trip: Campbell, Capitola, and Chaminade

For my birthday this year, I wanted to have a weekend get-away that was simple, relaxing, and fun. My best friend Krysta's birthday was last month, so I figured we could join our birthday celebration and go on the trip together. We choose the town of Campbell for the first night. It's a nice little area with shops and restaurants and historic spots as well. We went to a place called Sonoma Chicken Coop for dinner. I had a mushroom, vegetable pasta, and she ordered delicious steak. There was live music from a cover band playing oldies songs and lots of people there. The food was reasonably priced and I ordered a beer with my meal. We walked to a little gelato place down the street and I ordered a coconut chip gelate and she had an expresso chip. The guy behind the counter was probably mid 40's, nice man, but rather unfocused at the time. When I went to pay, he charged me two receipts: one said .45 cents the other said $4 dollars. I looked down dumbfounded and annoyed but he explained his 'fat finger' hit the register with the wrong keys and wound up saving me 35 cents as well since it was 4.75 in total. Krysta and the guy said " Can your fat finger save me 35 cents too?" They both burst into laughter at that point and his face was scarlet red! He seemed very interested in Krysta and she was hysterically laughing for twenty minutes post leaving the place. The guy high fived Krysta and gave her free gelato. I was sooo bummed, no freebie for me :(.  He told us he was about to take a shot in ten minutes and we should stick around if we wanted. We left and it turned out to be a nice evening. The hotel itself was called Larkspur Landing with a kitchen and fridge in our room. The spa wasn't working which was a downer. Next day we drove to Capitola after breakfast. yes, Krysta slept in, she is not a morning person. I took her to the Mercantile are shop center, then up the long stairs to see ocean view, then to Euphoria a girls boutique, she loved. Before we started the day, I put my car in park and used park break which i never use. When we got back to the car and I tried to release it, it wouldn't budge! We pulled and tugged on the release mechanism and accidently vbroke off the top handle. Krysta and I were beside ourselves late to lunch at gayles bakery and worried about missing our massage at Caress Day Spa. We ended up calling our dad's and brothers and she finally found the cable that released the break and we were off! We scarfed our lunch and ran to the spa. That night we were so exhausted we at dinner at the Chaminade resort where I purchased our living social, which was incredible and had 50 dollar credit to the place, plus two free glasses of wine. We ordered a movie, Austenland and relaxed in the hotel room with Angry Orchards, laughing and talking. Next morning, we explored all over the lush green woodsy type place, had valet drive us for free, and dipped our toes in the spa, and visited a coy pond they had outside the surrounding salon. The weekend was one of the most amazing ones I have spent in a long time! Sunday we came home at 5;30 and figured out finances. I had spent a ton :/ but all in all, it was worth it, since my birthday is in a week! For anyone, wanting a great place to rest or enjoy luxury, Chaminade is the spot to go. Well back to reality, until next trip!
