My cozy home
Around my house, I have little reminders of happiness and joy, things that make me unique too. On my walls, is a jungle them of canvas paintings featuring white birds in forestry, a giraffe, two zebras, and a picture of Prague of the river area outside a frame and another picture of my boyfriend and myself in SF. I have a comfy green couch and a blanket that covers the midsection for Mia to burrow in when I am at work and it faces the window of the exit door. I put my small 4ft xmas tree up in the corner of the TV.
On my fridge, there are holiday pictures from good friends from home; these by far our favorite. I love to send them cards at Christmas, hugely to put a smile on their face, and to also lift my spirits when I feel down. I distract myself and my own head when I am giving to others. What a wonderful feeling that is! The kitchen has no more table if you can believe it! I sold it to a man going through a tough divorce. It was weird at first not having a place to eat at dinner, but I quickly changed it to eating in the living room on a table my dad built for me. The TV stand is similar and very sturdy. When you go into the kitchen formica counter tops align, and a similar space to my old apartment. I have floral paintings there too, to escape the white washed walls.
In my room, I have my Eddie Bauer puff which is my favorite especially during the fall and winter when it becomes cooler at night. I have my adventure and goals and aspirations board on my night stand. On my dresser, our pictures from amazing memories I have had, ones I cherish deeply, or ones I am missing as well. My adventure lists is housed in my laptop bag for safe keeping. I have a few throw pillows on the bed that I use for reading or propping up my back or legs when sore. My bathroom has a floral type canvas with corresponding rug color, and it complements the viewpoint simply.
I am not a huge fan of hardwood floors, but over the years, and experiencing it at my parents’ house, I have grown to appreciate the need for them. Upstairs apartments usually do not have hardwood, so I do not. I have carpet, which stains like crazy and is an odd pairing with a pet. The best part is my feet don’t have to be too cold in the mornings if I can’t find my slippers though!
My keys and Mia’s leash and etc. are all hung on command hooks as you leave the place, so that I can remember where they are and have them in a convenient place to come back to. It isn’t a large home, and it certainly isn’t’ lavish, but for someone on a budget and lives alone, it is cozy and just right. I love having visitors over and share my home with them, what I have, and how I open others into my abode for food and conversation.
