Southern Belle: Updates from my end of the Tumbleweed
Two month hiatus from blogging for me, since Matt and I moved to Alabama last year in November, including getting engaged last October. Lots happening for us! We bought a house in February in a gorgeous area close to work. It is a quaint, cute community that has a small lake and a trailhead, good neighbors, and although step ford like community, still very blessed and nice to be there.
I joined a life group at church called 'She Connects' and back volunteering in children's ministry again as well. The group wraps up in April, which is rather quick for a life group. It will be interesting to see what is next or where to go from there. I am meeting a few people there and I know a few folks who moved along with us for their work from days working at AR. Mia is loving the open air and space. She is not a fan of the storms of course, but that is nothing new. Work is busy as can be, and going well. My shoulder over a year later, is working just fine, few tweaks sometimes when I work out, but other than that, normal.
The house is still a well-bred shock and awe for me. folks, I feel so incredibly grateful and filled with joy in my heart about my new home. I know you are not supposed to covet things or treasures, which are all fleeting, which I agree with, because nothing last forever; but this I will enjoy while I am inhabiting such joy and coziness that is! I am beginning to have a southern accent y'all. I tried to fight it so heavily, but I am giving in, and accepting this southern vibe. The people are funny, but very tight knit, (mind the busy-bodies) and the college football scene is no joke apparently too. Do not mess with Auburn or Roll Tide fans lol, period.
Recently, some of you have asked, how is my heart feeling after last year's up and down friendships. Happy to share I reconciled with a dear friend of mine, and repair is gentle, and heal is evident, it is challenging when I am not in the same state as most friends anymore.I am helping myself move forward and start a new chapter too. I felt it was time. Not that I don't love those friends, but I am here now, and I still keep a few close. Fiancé and I are learning to establish our own traditions, date nights, schedule, and lives together out here. We also find time indoors catching up on odds and ends is great too. Turned 30 last month, and biggest thing that continues to be at the forefront of my mind, is health, and how important it is to me, and to give back during that journey too. On that note, still sick since last week, but hoping to kick it on my own without antibiotics. It is mostly a mind-stress thing after all.
Wedding planning is full steam ahead, and it is very helpful that both sets of parents are helping since it will be back at home in California. We have crossed a lot off that task list so far, which is a definite peace of mind, major stuff, like photographer, cake, location, etc. Keeping it simple, low key, low guest count (sorry to those not going). I wanted it this way from the get-go, and let's be honest, it is really about family getting together anyway! Oh, Lacey if you are reading this, I too gave up alcohol for lent, (Lord help me), but I wanted to give it a try. I usually would do popcorn or something like donating 40 things. I needed to challenge myself this time round. Hope everyone has a great St. Patrick's Day weekend and sending joy your way if you need it today and the next!
