Recycling: if the bins were any closer they’d bite you

At work we have bins that indicate, paper, plastic, cans, etc. The organization is convenient and is sufficient. The company even makes it easier by putting a recycle blue bin in almost every office on plant. A born tree hugger, wasting things somewhat scare me, especially if it could be used for something else. I see some people at work print out massive amounts of paper and their print job alone takes 20 minutes. It’s ridiculous. I get to a point, that instead of waiting by the machine for them to finish, I find it more conducive to return to my desk to work until it’s all over. The hardest part to see is that this paper will eventually go in the shredder or a burn barrel and never get used again. Worthless.  My father says even if you don’t recycle, the workers end up having to do it when the trash gets to the landfill, and he feels it’s a big waste of time. Having spent a large debate and a chunk of an afternoon at work arguing that recycling was important, I confessed it’s still a task, people admit they do not do. Still other employees have made a collection and assortment of recycling, such as building soda can towers all over their desk end tables, or from the ground up, or cup of soup cans. I had meetings with a man who was in program office and had cans littered everywhere. It took so much will power not to take a bag, and stuff them all away and get rid of em all! I did not like looking at them. Okay, call it OCD, whatever you would like, but if you can’t have a meeting in someone’s office because you can’t see the table, the floor, or its nearby areas, we might have issues. He was a very nice man, so I tried very hard to let it slide, although I did hear someone finally got tired of it, and let the cleaning begin. I figure if something is recyclable, the bins are there, just do your part please. I cannot quite understand throwing out the plastic bags either. However, a few house guests have mentioned how much they dislike that I do not have a ‘normal trashcan’ but those plastic bags work as a bag just fine and I don’t have to pay for them J. Come on, as kids, don’t you remember that song, : Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, the three R’s? Well, maybe not, but it’s pretty simple and companies still recycle, heck even some honor the intake of items with store credit such as to Raley’s or cash, (which may be piddle money, but a gold mine for a poor man). For some reason this just goes back to the days at Woodleaf camp where they weighed your waste food at the mess hall each meal and showed how much the entire camp wasted of food. It was amazing to see how much was wasted and was hard to swallow that all of that food was being thrown out. I have a had time throwing out things that go bad, such as spinach, or fruit, or something you left out by sheer accident. It's a rough feeling when you know someone else would kill to eat just what you threw in a bag. I try not to think too much about it, because if I do, then my fridge will smell w.orse than a dirty baby diaper! No way am I hoarding spoiled food. Sacrifice. Try to eat what you can, save what is available to save, and make a penny go a long way.
