Jason and Ashley Wedding 2015
This past weekend, I traveled to Oregon to attend college friends of mine, their wedding as a bridesmaid. I was super stoked and a tad crazy busy because I had been gone for the last two weekends straight. I absolutely love going and being on the go, but wasn't sure how I pulled it off now looking back! I left two suitcases on the ground. One for labor day weekend and one for Jason and Ashley's wedding. I flew into Portland on Wednesday and later flight got to my hotel at 1am after getting off the rail station. Saved mega bucks not taking a cab. Friday we had the bachelorette party and the gals went to three awesome wineries.
I didn't know the other two bridesmaids, but I knew one. Even the bride is one of the easy going, laid back, fun, woman I know, so I didn't expect any bridezilla moments. How ironic that I was the bridesmaidzilla if you will! I was able to luckily score some hair and makeup appointments for myself and a friend to get all dressed up. It was such a chance, and I was grateful. I definitely felt less than prepared for the weekend, either it was packing or just basic duties. Some of us even discussed, wouldn't it be cool if there was a guide out there for bridesmaids and or maid of honors, i.e. a survival guide book to make it all happen based on any scenario? Scoff now, but I may just write a blog on this, or maybe even a book! I like the idea of being ready for anything that happens. I mean you can never be truly prepared, but it's nice to try.
The groomsmen went to a few bars and met us at Yardhouse for dinner and then to a Comedy Club afterward. It was a really fun night and well thought out by the planners. Friday was a chill day as we were slow going and not as agile as we figured we would be after a night of celebration. We did go into Portland to pick up a friend and walk around, and grab food. Saturday was the big day. I woke up much too early in my excitement and couldn't wait to get moving. I showered, cleaned up whatever I needed and made calls for the appointments. I met up with one of the bridesmaids and she and I had our first appointment around 10ish. I ran to Whole Foods for us for lunch and then jetted off to the hair appointments after the makeup ones. I also during all this, ran to H and M for a button up shirt. Ladies if you don't know now, this is essential on the wedding day! It will mess up your hair and face otherwise. We took pictures, got finished and ran into Joann's so I could buy a fake flower for my hair. Funny, I have two at home. Goodness.
We managed to meet up with Ashley for her makeup session, take pictures and by 3pm, the day begin to get away from us. The wedding was at 6pm and pictures at 4:30. We got all dressed and headed to David Hill Winery. I thought it was going to be scorching hot, but it turned out to cool down a bit as time went on. The ceremony was short and sweet. I walked with an old friend and tons of people we knew came from out of town, from college, and new ones to meet. The whole event was wonderful and we transferred to an old school house for the reception. I signed up to give a speech; definitely off the cuff, but it worked. We all had an amazing weekend and it just flew by. It was surreal. At the schoolhouse, as things were wrapping up, I stared up at the school bell out of the blue, and a shooting star shot across the sky. I was mesmerized and made a wish. Couldn't have been a better time to see people I hadn't seen in a long time, and normally don't see. Great couple, good wedding, and worth all
the money I spent to get everything for myself and for others. Loved it. Cheers!

I actually filmed a wedding on the 12th. Schedule is always crazy. Well done though getting all that knocked out and still having a good time :)
