Celiac disease gluten free and Halloween
I found out a weekend or two back, my sister like my friend Kayla from college has celiac disease. Actually it has become more common amongst some of my friends. I fear I may have it myself but not sure yet. I have no done tests and refuse to give up drinking beer and eating grilled cheese. However, I am lactose intolerant, go figure. I am learning more about it and am determined that whenever my friends who have it visit, I have food that they can have. It really is no fun to be surrounded by friends who all eat something you want, but can't and shouldn't have. I noticed too that it affects your gut a lot and your stomach will make sounds. Mine does when I have too much dairy, caffeine, or something super spicy. A friend said it might be leaky gut, but I also think it can be balanced if I drink water and not eat those foods all the time and balance my diet out.
This year I was Dorothy for Halloween and Mia as Toto. I also learned this year some of my friends do not participate in Halloween in same way some others wouldn't with Christmas with their beliefs and opinions and choices. At first, I didn't understand how someone could skip a fun holiday but I do see parts of it can be dark. I choose not to engage in dark matters but those who do, I do not judge. I know that people do other things, and make plans to have safe trick or treating for kids etc. There are other options.
My biggest step back was about Dia de los Muertos. I happen to love this celebration. I do not envision it as dark or mean or scary at all. They are honoring their loved ones and it is a huge event and there seems to be joy everywhere. I love watching my colleagues pictures, she and her Mexican family have of it all. I mean there is not a harm in it, but some people may forget that if you do not know you do not understand. A celebration of life was what we did for my grandma. It was still sad, but less uncomfortable for those still coping with the loss and we had some laughs, a slideshow my dad did and lots of family and friends around. Halloween does not have to be scary, originally was hallows eve and was not really as morbid as it is supposedly now made to sounds. Well now you know!
Your dog is adorable 😄 Sounds like you had a good time 👍
