#34 Bucket List : Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam, and misc thoughts
Az
There were people on the bus from all over world. Met an Airforce guy with his wife both super nice helped me out when my cell had no battery on the way back to Vegas and we had fun chats. Indian gal named Pooja chatted with me the whole time. She said her name means prayer. First stop was Hoover Dam, which was such an engineering marvel and so cool to see. After our four hour drive to AZ; thank god for movies and music. We stopped at the 7000 ft mather pt first and walked down to the canyon to take pictures. It was cold, rainy, and super windy. The view was so incredible I loved it.
Bright Angel lodge spot and viewpoint came after, and it was gorgeous.
Cold windy became a norm and it became dark fast. The light from the canyon faded but it was almost ominous and surreal. I felt like a dot on a map, a small pawn on a chessboard, tiny compared to this amazing wonder and structure of beauty. I had pilsner and fries and met an older couple from cocoa beach florida road tripping for xmas together. They were a riot to listen to and had great stories. The whole tour had a fun group of people from all over. Beautiful scenery and nature all around and worth every penny. The tour was 79 dollars and included a lunch at the national geographic center. They also pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. Views for miles and although freezing, again, so worth it. It was really something I wanted to do for myself. When I walked out to the canyon sides, although we didn't hike trails due to weather, I woke up again.
I for weeks had been berating myself for booking this trip well prior to my whole rent money situation going up in smoke. I left a community and an area I felt at home with to moving back home. I also felt eyes on me about hey do this, or don't do that. You can't go do anything, you have to save. No I earned this, and as much as some people like to judge, I cannot visit you all.
You are from the east coast and the west coast. News flash, there is only one of me lol! I cannot be everywhere and frankly with this whirlwind week, I am looking forward to seeing Mia, praising and thanking god for giving me a chance to vacation on a super busy time and come back to Margo again and to him. I know it can be tough and jealousy runs high. Nothing I did here seemed selfish. I saw so many friends, and did so many things. Of course I spent money on this trip, almost $700, but okay merry christmas to me.
