Adventure List #14 Hot Air Balloon Ride
I have always dreamt of going on a hot air balloon ride and wanted to soar high above the ground against the canyon. My boyfriend found a Groupon coupon for Temecula air flights. We had two choices, sunrise ride or sunset ride. I was torn with which one to do because both seemed equally dreamy and beautiful. Sunrise was chosen and I was very surprised. I thought the weather would be cloudy and cold. San Diego delivered a wonderful gift.
The weather that day was perfect. There was a light breeze and the sky was colorful, offering an array of pastels for our enjoyment. Our balloon operator Eric has done his job a long time, and was humorous and friendly for our ambiance and neighborly environment. Champagne was open to us while in the air as well as on the ground prior to flight. We watched the fire light up the contraption and after we climbed in horseback style, we took to the sky, weightless it seemed, and free. The wind path took us around the vineyards and a few pumpkin patches and stunning resorts in the area.
I loved as the sun began to ascend, the colors became more stunning as we climbed higher. Other balloons were flying nearby. We all were lost in the moment, and I had to eventually put my phone down and realize it was a time to be savored. It was worth every minute and worth the cost. The flames kept the balloon flying at its altitude of 1,000 ft or so. A photographer took a lot of pictures of each group, where we could later obtain them from social media, as treasures of our time up there.
I was so glad I could share an amazing memory with the man I love so much. A blip in time and to celebrate ten months of being together. It was a spectacular experience that I recommend to everyone and something you cannot miss! I also can assure you, if you are afraid of heights, (I am not), it does not scare as some might think. They are highly trained and the process is wired for our safety. Sunrise balloons, google it !
