Beluga Fish Camp: Turning a Business Into a Reality

My youngest brother Max graduated from UC Davis and has no embarked on a new business venture in Beluga Alaska! He moved there in February with his best friend Will Fredette and has started quite the place. I really hope to get out of my busy life to come see this place, but in the meantime, please enjoy a post not from Miss Moxie, but from Max himself, a little about the place and his journey through to make this dream a reality. Over the past few months my childhood friend William Fredette and I have embarked on a unique path. Together we have opened a lodging camp in a remote area of Alaska. In a matter of a few weeks, we went from a pencil drawn business plan to packing the car and driving to our new home. I sit her now and am more than pleased to inform you all that I could not be happier with my decision. Not a day has gone by that I don't learn something new about this foreign lifestyle that I am adjusting to. In 3 months I have been exposed to driving in the snow at 4am, moose being the only traffic on my daily "commute", and an eventful business contract opportunity housing pipeline workers.I would not be here without the help from my family let alone the life lessons I have learned from every single one of them. Thanks to them, truly. They have noticed my more frequent phone calls it is because believe it or not I do miss them all ðŸ˜Š

It is astonishing all of the things I have been able to experience up here: local animals like bald eagles, moose, bears and more. I cannot wait to share more with you all as I feel it is a crime to life such an uncommon lifestyle without sharing the experiences. If they ever want to call/text me I hope they do! Not a day goes by that I don't have them all in my thoughts. Also I have some news (AKA sales pitch) for them all and would greatly appreciate your help! If you feel there is a family member or family friend or anyone you know who I have missed please feel free to forward this to them as I do not have everyone's up-to-date emails.

Beluga Fish Camp is OPEN! We are creating a beautiful outdoor environment and lodging experience - Modern living in the true Alaskan bush. I'm talking moose walking through the front yard, foxes sleeping in our dandelion-covered fields, and a fishing/hunting experience you won't forget. I was debating putting this post down since we arrived home. I gave myself a week back at work and a weekend to recharge and try to wake up. Stay at home mom, Landmark, this and that, goodbye Midtowne on the Park

 Hello! Took another a long hiatus from these posts. I have been a busy momma. I left my job at Lockheed Martin June 2nd last year. I left the comfy cushion of a good salary, 9 hr days, and daycare days to days where I am central focused on kids, rather than when I will get my nails done, or when my next day off is. I attend St. John's Baptist Mother's morning out group once a week, 2 hrs in the basement discussing a book with other moms while the kids are in nursery or toddler class, beneficial. Learning to say no to things rather than yes to everything. I said no to women's bible study, which I love, to yes to more time with the kiddos, and yes to supporting my husband and the unpredictable work schedule. I say no to rushing from here to there unless part of our normal routine, and said goodbye to friends who do not fit changes, or energy, those who do not understand or give back.       Becoming a stay at home mom has helped me get back the moments I had lost ...

Setting yourself up for disappointment

I don't know what's harder, the beginning, the middle or the end of something you thought would last. for two weeks I have been sick on and off, and my life things I like doing have been put on hold, no gym, no life group, no bible study, it's been miserable and this week I could only go to work one day because I have pink eye in both eyes, trying to get well again. When I don't get to go anywhere or do anything, I do it anyways. I worked out while sick last week and made it worse. I went to see Iron Man yesterday after work because I needed to get out. I disinfected the apartment periodically and cursed when I saw statuses of people going out and having fun when I'm stuck. during my time in my room, or in the shower, or cleaning, I began to fester about what I could have been doing, what I needed to do, or what happened while I was absent, or about all the people I cared about who maybe forgot about me.
