Berlin

We arrived at different times at he airport and met up at a meeting spot in the airport after passing border/passport control to get our stamp. After two hours of chatting, greeting a bit, and waiting for the first group, we then piled onto a small limo bus to take us to the Generator Hostel in Berlin which has a bar, cafe, and breakfast daily.

We had 4 room-mates to a room, and got together by assigned person per room. Two were married, and two were together so they booked upstairs from us instead. Berlin is an eclectic city full of history, and lots of fervour from its locals. My second day there I cam down with the stomach flu and sadly it went everywhere. So embarrassing! I cried because it was miserable. I didn't miss anything because luckily the first day, we did a bus ride, and didn't do too much. I continuously got worse and used the free day to rest. The sounds at night did make it difficult to sleep, but I got through it. We took a river cruise and saw the city from the boat, we walked to the remnants of the Berlin Wall, had typical German food, beer, bratwurst with curry, and went to Checkpoint Charlie, the president of Germany's house, and had fun exploring the underground subways and top ground trains and railways.

In the indoor bar, we had a welcome mixer with tons of food and tokens for drinks. I enjoyed trying to learn German. Danke means thank you, and gooten Morgan I believe is hello! The people are fairly nice as long as you make your orders firmly and don't lull about lol. There was a bit of a breeze and rain there so we dressed warmly. I went to see the museum of sculptures and walked around looking at the riviera and those on foot, bikes etc. I can tell you, I was most surprised with how they make breakfast. They make it with tomatoes, cheese, cucumbers, dried oats for cereal, milk, some odd porridge thing, and bread and the toppings.

Generator places usually are all the same continental breakfast wise. I knew we would be staying in a hotel later, so I wasn't worried. You are a bit crammed, but you get used to it. We had more free time in Berlin and I didn't really have the chance to go out, but it is a city worth seeing, and getting a feel for the place. We got to see the Victory Columns of all the battles Berlin is proud of to win, and view from the street, the 360 degree restaurant dome, and hear about all of the good vibes and cuisine it has. Berlin is a city who truly holds it's own. When I say this, it's locals really know what they are talking about, they love and cheer on soccer, and completely will disarm you if you insult them!
